She bid me to take life easy, as the leaves blow on the tree...
She was floating.
She should have taken Noah's warning more to heart. She should have left that party the second he said to. But curiosity, as always, got the best of her. Now, in addition to being a demon, she was a fool who ignored the omens of the dead.
Hild would have been troubled by this if she could feel troubled. If she could feel regret. Or guilt. She felt only at peace now, happy, pleased, content. She felt as though all her worries and troubles had lifted. No, Hild had been lifted up, on a cloud, leaving every heavy feeling, thought, emotion on the distant ground. They were still there, she knew that, just as she knew that she should find her way back to her own bed sometime before the sun rose. But they were distant and hard to reckon, just as her bed was.
She left the party humming to herself, vainly searching her mind for some song that was all happy, that didn't have a speck of death or war or sorrow in it. The ground wobbled slightly beneath her feet, so she gave up on trying to walk a straight line back to the city, instead spread her arms and weaved her way like a bird, turned this way and that by the wind currents, but roughly heading in the right direction of the sidewalk.

It's why he's lurking near the warehouse with a slight scowl on his face, just in case. He knows that he's made the right decision when he spots Hild all by herself, humming as she stumbles along the sidewalk. He huffs and pushes against the brick to fall in step beside her.
"Did you have a good time?" Derek asks with a raised eyebrow. She smells like sweat and whatever chemicals she has running through her system, but she seems happy. It may be fleeting, and brought on by a manufactured little pill, but he still can't help but to be glad to see the smile on her face.

"All time is good," Hild said with a sigh. "Everything here.. is very good."
Grinning, she looped her outstretched arms around his neck and half-jumped, half-swung herself to the other side of him. Her weight was nothing to him, but especially so now when she was sure she was floating.
no subject
"Happy to see me, huh?" He asks fondly, looking down at her as she grins up at him. He's glad that what happened between them didn't derail their friendship at all. Hild is important to him, and he's glad that they're so comfortable with each other. "How about I carry you home?"
no subject
Dimly, she thought she should fight him, make him let her walk, but she was too comfortable and arguing seemed like such an unnecessary effort.
"Mm, yes," she sighed, resting her head on his shoulder. "Happy to see Derek. Why are you not in party, Derek? It is fun party. You are so warm." She pressed her face into the crook of his neck, nuzzling with her nose.

They arrive at Hild's building and Derek holds her up easily with one arm as he opens the main door and carries her into the lobby. The touch to his neck makes him shiver, sensitive as the area is, but he does nothing to stop her. "Where are your keys?"
no subject
"Mm, keys." It took her a moment, a blink, and she reached for the purse at her waist. It was on the small side, but still managed to hold her phone, her keys, some money and her ID. No longer did she carry her essentials from home, her shears and thimble and needles. She dug out her keys with a little difficulty, her tongue poking out from the side of her mouth as she struggled.
"Ah! Keys!"
no subject
"Good girl," he says with a chuckle, reaching out to take the keys as they step onto the elevator. The kiss to his ear makes him smile, and he looks over at her for a moment before the elevator dings. "Seems like it was quite the party."
He opens her door and steps inside, locking up behind him and and setting the keys on the counter and looking over at her with a raised eyebrow, smiling in amusement. "Are you just going to cling to me all night?"
no subject
"Maybe you put me down and.. I thank you for taking me home." She smiled, pretending at innocence, and likely she would have succeeded were she not entirely sensible of herself.
no subject
"Let's get some water in you first," he tells her with a warm smile, heading into the kitchen to grab a glass from the cupboard. Derek has never been high, but water is never a bad idea. He fills the glass and hands it to her, leaning down to rest his elbows on the counter. "Are you hungry?"
no subject
"I..." She took the cup with both hands, but stalled somewhat, trying to do too many things at once: thinking and drinking and dancing. Hild considered with a frown, then nodded seriously at Derek.
"I want sweet things," she decided, and took a sip of water.

He thinks for a moment and then comes around the counter, pushing her hair out of her face and tucking it behind her ear. "I'll run to that donut place on the corner if you stay put and finish that water. Is that sweet enough for you?"
no subject
"You are sweet," Hild insisted. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed up to kiss his chin. "Maybe I do not want donuts. Maybe I want you."
no subject
"There's no way that I'm sweeter than a donut," Derek tells her with a smirk, but he leans down to curl his hands around her thighs and lift her up. He carries her over to the sofa and falls back onto it, pulling her into his lap and pushing her hair back away from her face. "Good thing you ran into me, huh? If I'm what you're craving."
no subject
She tilted her head to one side, shutting her eyes as she nuzzled into his touch, his large, warm hands in her hair and against her skin. The gentleness of him did not hide the strength of him.
"Mm, yes," Hild sighed. Eyes still shut, she brought her head forward, her lips finding his in a slow, sweet kiss. "Yes, I crave you."
no subject
He doesn't think it is, but he wants to be sure. He likes Hild, and he respects her. The last thing he would ever want to do is take advantage of her when she might have felt safe with him.
no subject
"Is what because of what I took at the party?" Even as she asked, she nuzzled into his hand again, then pressed a kiss to his palm.
no subject
He leans back against the sofa, relaxing into the cushions as he gives her a fond, teasing smile. "I'm just trying to make sure I shouldn't go put you to bed."
no subject
"Yes, a.. a little pill makes me want you," she said, deeply amused by the thought. "Not your eyes. Or your lips. Your body. Your cock." Her hands moved slow down his chest, feeling the lines of muscles under his shirt. "Not you, dear Derek, hard and soft, strong and kind."
She wrinkled her nose, dismissing the thought with a dramatic shake of her head. "Just pills."
no subject
Derek watches her as she speaks, huffing in amusement at her words. Her hands feel good against his body and he arches up into it. She's on something, sure, but her mind seems clear enough.
Or maybe not, since she seems to think so highly of him. He isn't sure what he's done to deserve such praise, but it makes him feel good, warm all over, and he slides his hand up into her long, soft hair.
"Okay, okay," he says with a laugh, pulling her in closer. "I just wanted to be sure."
no subject
"I love you," Hild murmured against his neck. "You mean much to me."
no subject
It means so much to him and he swallows hard, wishing he could say it back. The words don't come easily to him, and the last person he said them to was his sister before she left for California, before she died.
"You're important to me too," Derek tells her, voice full of emotion as he pulls her closer. He needed to hear that, so much, and he pulls her in to give her a soft, lingering kiss.
no subject
Humming into the kiss, Hild drew her fingers lightly along the line of his jaw, the rough rub of stubble on her fingertips. "Beautiful Derek," she murmured against his lips. "Stay with me tonight."
no subject
"What did you have in mind?" Derek asks, smiling against her lips as he moves her hair away from her shoulder. He tugs her shirt aside to press a kiss to the soft skin there, pulling her even closer to him.
no subject
"Nothing," she laughed, deep in her throat. Her mind was a peaceful blank. She moved forward, obeying his pull. Her hips ground down against him, unconsciously, naturally.
"Anything. Whatever you wish."
no subject
Derek groans as she rocks against him, cock stiffening up in his jeans at the pressure. He slides his hands up the inside of her shirt, along her soft skin and up under her bra, thumbing lightly at her nipples as he looks up at her.
"Looks like you're already feeling pretty good," he says with a lazy grin, unable to help teasing her. "Are you sure you even need me?"
no subject
"Maybe not," she said, but that answer was lost in a chuckle. Laughing at herself, for thinking she could be that strong at that moment. Hild bent her head, pressing a kiss to his mouth, teeth pulling gently at his bottom lip. "No, I need you," she murmured, hot breath shared between their mouths. "Badly."
